FedEx Pays $3.1M To End Driver Misclassification Suit

Law360 (April 29, 2019, 2:01 PM EDT) -- FedEx Ground has agreed to pay $3.1 million to settle claims that it misclassified drivers as independent contractors and made deductions to their pay that violated New York labor law.

The drivers on Friday asked a New York federal judge to greenlight the agreement and to certify a class of roughly 450 members for the purpose of the settlement. According to their motion for preliminary approval, class members can expect to get around $100 for every week they worked full-time and $50 for the weeks they worked part time.
