7th Circ. Says Tribe's Suit Over Casino Expansion Time-Barred

By Mike LaSusa (April 30, 2019, 10:20 PM EDT) -- A Wisconsin-based tribe on Tuesday lost a suit against the state government and another tribe seeking to curb the latter's casino expansion plans, when a Seventh Circuit appeals panel said a lower court had been right to toss the claims as untimely.

The three-judge panel upheld the district court's dismissal of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community's suit against the state government and the Ho-Chunk Nation, which had sought to block a planned expansion of a Ho-Chunk Nation casino in the town of Wittenberg, claiming it would run afoul of both tribes' gaming compacts with the state as well as the federal Indian Gaming...
