Hockey Team, Hip-Hop Artist Brawl Over Song Use

Law360, New York (August 10, 2009, 5:31 PM EDT) -- The owner of the NHL team Carolina Hurricanes and hip-hop musician Tye Banks have taken their fight over a song promoting the team to federal court, with the team claiming trademark infringement and the songwriter accusing the team of using his work in ads without permission.

Both Hurricanes Hockey LP and Tye Banks lodged complaints with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina on Friday.
