Trump Blacklists Huawei Amid Telecom Security Clampdown

Law360 (May 15, 2019, 7:49 PM EDT) -- The Trump administration continued its crackdown on China's telecommunications sector Wednesday by placing Huawei on a blacklist that will make it more difficult for U.S. companies to do business with the industry giant.

Finding that Huawei is "engaged in activities that are contrary to U.S. national security or foreign policy interest," Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross placed the company and its affiliates on the agency's so-called Entity List, which will require U.S. companies to obtain a government license before selling to Huawei.
