Suit Says Honda Cars Had Faulty Transmissions

Law360, New York (August 14, 2009, 7:05 PM EDT) -- A California woman has filed a proposed class action accusing American Honda Motor Co. Inc. and Honda North America Inc. of knowingly selling several vehicle models, including the popular Accord and Odyssey models, with defective transmissions.

Honda violated fraudulent concealment and nondisclosure laws, as well as California's Consumers Legal Remedies Act, by advertising vehicles as being particularly safe despite recalling some models' transmissions in 2004 due to safety concerns, according to the complaint, filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California....
