$1M Storm Damage Coverage Dispute Ends After Settlement

Law360 (July 18, 2019, 8:52 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge on Wednesday closed a $1 million suit launched by an apartment complex owner over the denial of an insurance claim for storm damage after the parties in the case agreed to a settlement.

U.S. District Judge Alfred H. Bennett ended property owner Brookwind Ltd.'s suit against underwriters at Lloyd's of London, QBE Insurance Corp. and a dozen other insurers and adjusters following a joint request filed last month.

Brookwind originally filed suit in state court, but the litigation landed before the judge in January at the request of the insurers, who argued that the property owner's claims...
