Greenberg Traurig Seeks End To Stanford Ponzi Suit

Law360 (July 23, 2019, 7:18 PM EDT) -- Greenberg Traurig LLP has moved to nix the remaining claims in a suit alleging that it actively participated in convicted Ponzi schemer R. Allen Stanford's plan to dupe investors out of billions of dollars.

In a motion filed Monday, the firm argued that even the receiver bringing the claims admitted there was no evidence Greenberg was aware that Stanford was running a Ponzi scheme. The firm also said the claims were blocked by a settlement that released a former Greenberg attorney from liability.
