Senate Dems Demand More Info On Border Wall Land Seizure
Law360 (August 14, 2019, 8:45 PM EDT) -- A group of Democratic senators, led by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., urged a government watchdog agency to probe the Trump administration’s efforts to seize private land to construct the president’s long-promised barrier along the border with Mexico.
Schumer, joined by Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., Tom Udall, D-N.M., and Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., asked the Government Accountability Office on Tuesday to investigate any attempts by the administration to use the power of eminent domain to take private land for a border wall.
