FAA Must Take Action On Hobby Drone Dangers

By Michael Slack (January 3, 2020, 5:53 PM EST) -- A news helicopter flying at 1,100 feet over downtown Los Angeles on the evening of Dec. 4, 2019, made an emergency landing after colliding with a small unmanned aircraft. Even though the Los Angeles Police Department immediately launched its own helicopter to search for the drone operator, the operator has not been identified. Besides the LAPD, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have acknowledged their own investigations into the incident.
