Checkers Drive-In Settles Nationwide TCPA Suit Over Texts
Law360 (January 15, 2020, 5:47 PM EST) -- Checkers Drive-In Restaurants Inc. agreed to provide two $5 vouchers to all members of a proposed class of customers who say they received promotional text messages from the fast food chain in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
The proposed settlement filed in Illinois federal court Tuesday doesn't name an estimated total amount Checkers has agreed to pay, but says the settlement class includes approximately 1.9 million telephone numbers scattered across the country. The deal would also provide up to $354,000 to class counsel and $7,000 to named plaintiff Madeleine Yates.
