Sprint Settles Class Action Over Data Fees

Law360, New York (October 12, 2009, 7:29 PM EDT) -- Cellular provider Sprint Solutions Inc. has settled a putative class action with consumers led by the Utility Consumers' Action Network alleging the company breached its contract with consumers by improperly charging data customers fees that only a voice user should pay.

Sprint will pay up to $2.2 million to settle the bulk of the claims, the two sides said in a motion for an order preliminarily approving settlement filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
