Pilot Unions Wary, Critical Of Industry Alliances

Law360, New York (October 12, 2009, 7:00 PM EDT) -- Airline unions have joined the growing list of critics of proposals by the industry's Oneworld alliance for antitrust exemption and are calling for more general oversight when it comes to competition within the industry.

The Allied Pilots Association, a collective bargaining agent for American Airlines' 11,500 pilots, issued a statement Friday voicing “unequivocal opposition” to the antitrust immunity being sought by British Airways PLC, American Airlines Inc. and Iberia Group, the airlines that comprise the Oneworld alliance.
