House Committee OKs Bill To Fund Open 5G Technologies

Law360 (July 16, 2020, 7:15 PM EDT) -- Bipartisan legislation aimed at promoting open 5G technologies sailed through committee Wednesday and is now bound for the full House of Representatives. Should the bill become law, a significant chunk of funds will be set aside for building interoperable networks.

After the House Energy and Commerce Committee passed the measure on a voice vote alongside seven other communications bills, committee chairman Frank Pallone Jr., D-N.J., lauded the would-be law and its siblings as "critical pieces of legislation" that would "make Americans safer, improve the security of wireless infrastructure and modernize federal spectrum management."
