3 State AGs To Sue FedEx Over Driver Classification

Law360, New York (October 20, 2009, 5:49 PM EDT) -- Attorneys general from New York, New Jersey and Montana notified FedEx Ground Package System Inc. on Tuesday that they will sue the delivery company if it continues to classify its drivers as independent contractors rather than employees.

Unless the shipping giant amends its policy, New York Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, New Jersey Attorney General Anne Milgram and Montana Attorney General Steve Bullock plan to haul the FedEx Corp. subsidiary into court for labor law violations, they said in a letter to the company.
