Pro-Market Groups Counter Big Tech Competition Worries

Law360 (July 23, 2020, 5:39 PM EDT) -- A trade association for online businesses and a think tank in two research papers released Thursday pushed back against antitrust concerns raised about Facebook and other internet platforms, with both papers arguing the companies are not monopolies.

NetChoice and the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation both played down the concerns surrounding big tech companies even as U.S. and global competition regulators and lawmakers scrutinize the firms. As part of policymakers' inquiries, the heads of Google's parent company, Alphabet; Amazon; Apple; and Facebook are scheduled to testify before a House Judiciary subcommittee next week.
