By Dominick DiSabatino (August 13, 2020, 5:12 PM EDT) -- An Aug. 7 settlement between the California Department of Insurance and AbbVie Inc. sheds new light on the importance of, and potential constraints applicable to, pharmaceutical company nurse educator programs.
While this state law settlement provides some of the first available compliance guidance to companies offering nurse educator programs, the settlement also exposes seemingly inconsistent policy and enforcement views as between the state of California and the U.S. Department of Justice, which may create continued uncertainty and risk for the pharmaceutical industry.
