L'Oreal Off Hook Over Stolen Perfume Shipment

Law360, New York (October 27, 2009, 3:11 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has sided with L'Oreal USA Inc. in a suit brought by a department store's insurer seeking to force the cosmetics giant to cover the difference for a supposedly undervalued $574,000 shipment of perfume hijacked in transit.

In a brief opinion issued Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Judge William H. Pauley III granted L'Oreal's motion for summary judgment and found the company wasn't responsible for paying the more than $420,000 claim that Allianz Global Risk U.S....
