Insurer Seeks Arbitration Against Home Defect Claims

Law360 (October 28, 2020, 6:12 PM EDT) -- AIG unit Lexington Insurance Co. sued homebuilder Lennar Corp. in New York state court Tuesday to force it to arbitrate a dispute concerning whether it's owed coverage for defect claims from thousands of its houses across the country.

Lexington sued Lennar seeking to either enforce an arbitration agreement or to get a judge to agree that it doesn't have a duty to defend the Miami-based company from defect claims involving things such as its drywall, roofing, chimneys and plumbing in 16,000 housing units across 19 states.
