Facebook Gets Targeted Ad Campaign Class Action Trimmed
Law360 (November 9, 2020, 7:23 PM EST) -- A California federal judge on Friday tossed for good certain equitable relief claims in an advertiser's proposed class action alleging Facebook deceptively promises that advertisers can choose targeted audiences for ad campaigns, but allowed those claims to proceed if they are based on future harm.
In a 24-page order, U.S. District Judge Phyllis J. Hamilton noted that advertiser Investor Village is seeking actual damages for Facebook's past allegedly deceptive conduct, and Investor Village has not shown why those damages aren't an adequate legal remedy for Facebook's past alleged harm.
