Football Coach Alleges Race Discrimination

Law360, New York (November 15, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The former head coach of the Cumberland University football team has accused the school of firing him because of his interracial marriage.

John S. Parker, who is black, led his team to a 2-18 record over a two-year span before he was let go in November 2005. It was not his record, however, that led to the discharge, but instead his marriage to a white woman, Parker said in a lawsuit filed last week before the U.S. District Court in Nashville, Tenn.
