Investment Firm Sues Verizon Over Mapping Technology

Law360, New York (November 16, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A Swiss investment company has zeroed in on wireless provider Verizon Communications Inc. in a patent infringement suit over Internet technology that helps pinpoint geographical locations.

Yellowone Investments filed the suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on Wednesday, alleging that Verizon and Idearc Information Services Inc., a spin-off of Verizon’s print and online yellow-pages business, willfully infringed its patent covering an Internet organizer for obtaining geographical and topical information.
