Charter Gets $19M In Sanctions For False Windstream Ads

By Rick Archer (April 9, 2021, 3:05 PM EDT) -- A New York bankruptcy judge has awarded Windstream Holdings more than $19 million in sanctions against rival Charter Communications, saying Windstream was forced to spend millions to get back the customers it lost to Charter's false advertising campaign.

In a memorandum issued Thursday, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert Drain said Charter should pay contempt sanctions for its violation of Windstream's bankruptcy protections with its attempt to get Windstream's customers to cancel their contracts by convincing them the company was shutting down.
