Smith Barney Sex Discrimination Case Grows

Law360 (November 29, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A class action accusing Smith Barney of discriminating against its female brokers has been amended, increasing the number of plaintiffs and amplifying the allegations.

The amended complaint, filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, accuses the Smith Barney unit of Citigroup Global Markets of systemic discrimination “based upon company-wide policies and practices and the result of unchecked gender bias that pervades the corporate culture of Smith Barney.”
