Telecom Decision Could Affect AT&T/BellSouth Deal

Law360 (December 1, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge may impose additional conditions in the merger of telecommunications companies Verizon Communications and MCI and SBC Communications and AT&T, in a move that could have implications for the proposed deal between AT&T and Bellsouth.

Judge Emmett Sullivan, who is presiding over the hearing on the conditions imposed on the mergers by the U.S. Department of Justice, has indicated that he may require further divestitures and other measures.
