Oct. Date Set For Rajaratnam Criminal Trial

Law360, New York (February 18, 2010, 3:37 PM EST) -- An October criminal trial date has been set for Raj Rajaratnam, the Galleon Group LLC hedge fund founder who is facing insider trading charges for allegedly making millions by scheming on tips from inside sources at several major companies.

Judge Richard Holwell in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Wednesday said the trial would begin Oct. 25.

The government said defense attorneys were trying to gain an “unfair advantage” by seeking to delay the trial so a parallel civil case...
