Choice Hotels Wins Exit From Legionnaires' Suit

Law360, New York (March 23, 2010, 7:00 PM EDT) -- A judge has let Choice Hotels International Inc. out of a consolidated lawsuit brought by guests — one of whom later died — who contracted Legionnaires' disease after staying at one of the lodging franchiser's Illinois locations.

Judge Jeanne E. Scott granted Choice Hotels' motions for summary judgment on Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois, saying that Choice Hotels wasn't responsible for monitoring bacteria levels in the pool and spa at the Comfort Inn in Lincoln, Ill., where the guests...
