Apple, HTC, RIM Face Patent Suits Over Smartphones

Law360, New York (April 5, 2010, 4:33 PM EDT) -- MobileMedia Ideas LLC has launched a trio of suits accusing major smartphone makers Apple Inc., HTC Corp. and Research In Motion Ltd. of infringing a total of 24 patents covering cell phone technology including custom playlists, a personal digital assistant, user interfaces, call rejection and noise-sensitive volume controls.

MMI filed suit Wednesday against Apple in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, saying that its 3G series of iPhones and its iPod line of media players infringe 14 MMI patents.
