US Airways, United In Merger Talks: Report

Law360, New York (April 7, 2010, 6:19 PM EDT) -- US Airways and United Air Lines Inc.'s parent company reportedly are in merger talks, prompting renewed speculation about anti-competitive consolidation in the airline industry.

The UAL Corp. and US Airways have been discussing a deal that could create one of the largest airlines in the world, the New York Times reported Wednesday, citing anonymous sources who were briefed on the matter.

Details of the potential transaction were not revealed, although the two airlines are “deep in their merger discussions,” the newspaper reported.
