Flying J, Shell Reach $8.5M Refinery Cleanup Deal

Law360, New York (April 12, 2010, 6:39 PM EDT) -- Bankrupt oil services company Flying J Inc. has reached an $8.5 million settlement with Shell Oil Products U.S. that will cover the cost of cleaning up a California oil refinery that Flying J sold as part of its restructuring.

According to a motion to approve the settlement filed Friday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, Shell agreed to defray the costs of cleaning up a refinery approximately three miles outside of downtown Bakersfield, Calif.
