Judges Go On Offensive Against Rash Of Weak Motions

Law360, New York (May 26, 2010, 6:32 PM EDT) -- A Massachusetts federal judge who recently advocated for sua sponte judgment against patent litigants that file unsubstantiated summary judgment motions has the sympathy of his colleagues on the bench, who told Law360 that while Judge William G. Young's solution may be radical, the problem is real.

Judge Young's peers on the bench agreed intellectual property litigants move for summary judgment without merit all too often, but none embraced the remedy proposed by the 25-year veteran of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts....
