Microsoft Licenses Acacia Image Resolution Patents

Law360, New York (May 19, 2010, 12:50 PM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp. and a subsidiary of Acacia Research Corp. have reached a patent-licensing agreement over image resolution enhancement technology, ending the technology giant's involvement in an infringement suit targeting a handful of companies.

Acacia on Wednesday announced the agreement resolving claims against Microsoft in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

The asserted patents, U.S. Patent Numbers 6,870,964 and 7,382,929, cover a "Spatial scan replication circuit” and were issued in March 2005 and June 2008, respectively.
