Antitrust Regulators May Probe Apple App Ad Policy

Law360, New York (June 10, 2010, 5:28 PM EDT) -- U.S. antitrust authorities are reportedly considering a probe into whether Apple Inc.'s ad policies for applications designed for its popular iPhone, iPod and iPad devices unfairly limit Google Inc. and other rival technology companies' access to that advertising market.

Apple's move to launch its own iAd mobile advertising network in July, announced Monday, has already drawn the attention of federal antitrust regulators, the Financial Times reported Wednesday, citing two anonymous people familiar with the matter.
