Panalpina Settles KBR Subcontract Kickback Claims

Law360, New York (August 2, 2010, 6:30 PM EDT) -- Swiss logistics provider Panalpina Welttransport Holding AG has agreed to shell out $375,000 to settle claims that it paid kickbacks to KBR Inc. in exchange for shipping subcontracts with the U.S. military in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The settlement, announced by the U.S. Department of Justice on Friday, resolves claims in a qui tam lawsuit brought by two employees from competing companies against several contractors accused of violating the False Claims Act and the Anti-Kickback Act.
