BSkyB Faces Antitrust Probe Over Pay-TV Movies

Law360, New York (August 4, 2010, 6:01 PM EDT) -- U.K. officials announced Wednesday an investigation into British Sky Broadcasting Group PLC over potential antitrust violations in the sale and distribution of pay-television movies.

The U.K. Office of Communications — an independent regulator and competition authority for the country's communications industry — has been studying the pay-TV market for three years, and expressed concern that the way the movies are sold and distributed creates a situation where BSkyB has an incentive to distort competition.
