Google, Verizon Net Neutrality Plan Exempts Wireless

Law360, New York (August 9, 2010, 4:11 PM EDT) -- Days after the Federal Communications Commission cut off negotiations with lobbyists over Internet traffic regulation, Google Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc. on Monday revealed a joint net neutrality proposal that would maintain an open Internet while largely exempting wireless carriers.

The plan would prohibit wireline broadband providers from discriminating against or favoring certain Internet content and give the FCC the right to enforce the rules, according to a joint statement from the companies.
