Google, Yahoo Didn't Infringe Messaging Patent: Jury

Law360, New York (August 10, 2010, 12:28 PM EDT) -- A federal jury has cleared Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc. in a patent infringement suit brought by Bright Response LLC over electronic messaging technology, finding that the search giants do not infringe and that the asserted patent is invalid.

The jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas returned its verdict Monday, following a weeklong trial in which Marshall, Texas-based Bright Response had sought up to $128 million from Google and $27 million from Yahoo.
