Trial Starts In Verizon's VoIP Suit Against Vonage

Law360 (February 22, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The trial has begun in Verizon Communications Inc.’s patent infringement suit against Vonage Holdings Corp., with Verizon’s attorney telling a federal jury that its upstart rival has trampled its patents for Internet phone call technology.

Verizon’s case was trumpeted by Chicago attorney Dan K. Webb, chairman of Winston & Strawn LLP, who told the jury Vonage was using Verizon’s patented technology to lure millions of landline customers with cheaper Internet calls.
