Families Claim GE Engine Caused Deadly 2008 Crash

Law360, New York (September 8, 2010, 5:19 PM EDT) -- General Electric Corp. is facing a lawsuit from the families of nine people, mostly firefighters involved in battling a blaze in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, who were killed in a 2008 California helicopter crash.

GE did not provide an appropriate repair to helicopter engine filters in the Sikorsky S-61 helicopter used to ferry the firefighters, according to an amended complaint filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon.
