Alleged Ponzi Schemer's Atty To Leave Case

Law360, New York (September 10, 2010, 4:54 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has agreed to allow attorney Harold Gurewitz of Gurewitz & Raben PLC to withdraw as counsel for an alleged Ponzi schemer accused of fleecing investors for some $200 million.

Judge Arthur Tarnow of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan on Thursday approved Gurewitz’s request to stop defending indicted investment manager Edward May because May hadn’t paid his legal bills in six months.

A public defender will represent May going forward, the judge said.
