Alleged Al-Qaida Backers Escape 9/11 Suits

Law360, New York (September 14, 2010, 3:08 PM EDT) -- A judge has dismissed most of a group of charities and individuals accused of funding the World Trade Center attacks from Sept. 11 multidistrict litigation, but has refused to let about a half-dozen defendants off the hook.

Judge George B. Daniels of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York said in an order Monday that the plaintiffs had not proven the individuals and charities had a direct link to the attacks, which places them outside of U.S. jurisdiction.
