Old Republic Settles Conn. Mortgage Class Action

Law360, New York (September 29, 2010, 12:55 PM EDT) -- Old Republic National Title Insurance Co. has settled a class suit from Connecticut homeowners alleging the company breached implied contracts by denying millions of dollars in discounts on title insurance policies linked to refinanced mortgages.

Mortgage holders, divided into three tiers, will receive hundreds of dollars each to settle the suit, which sought more than $5 million in damages, according to documents filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.
