Law360, New York (October 4, 2010, 3:15 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice and seven states on Monday hit Visa Inc., MasterCard Inc. and American Express Co. with a civil antitrust suit challenging their merchant discount fee rules, netting quick settlements with Visa and MasterCard and a vow from American Express to fight the allegations.
The suit, as well as the proposed Visa and MasterCard settlements, were filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
