FCC Investigates Verizon Wireless 'Mystery Fees'

Law360, New York (October 4, 2010, 4:02 PM EDT) -- The Federal Communications Commission has confirmed it is investigating Verizon Wireless over millions of dollars in “mystery fees” it charged to about 15 million customer accounts over the past several years, a matter that has already spawned a number of class actions against the wireless provider.

Michele Ellison, FCC enforcement bureau chief, said Sunday that the agency began the investigation 10 months ago after consumers complained about the fees, which have reportedly totaled $50 million over the past two years, she said.
