Prosecutors Misled Judge In Wiretap Bid: Rajaratnam

Law360, New York (October 4, 2010, 4:59 PM EDT) -- Lawyers for Galleon Group founder Raj Rajaratnam told a judge Monday that the government submitted only “boilerplate” documents when seeking permission to gather wiretap evidence in an insider trading probe, purposely omitting key facts.

John Dowd of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP argued during a hearing in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York that the wiretap evidence should be thrown out in a criminal case against the hedge fund chief given the government’s allegedly misleading conduct.
