Novartis Prevails In 2nd Trial Over Bone Drug Liability

Law360, New York (October 8, 2010, 1:17 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey jury has found in favor of Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. in a suit brought by a woman who claimed she developed osteonecrosis of the jaw as a result of Aredia and Zometa, marking the second jury verdict to come down in hundreds of cases over the bone-strengthening drugs.

Following two hours of deliberation and a 10-day trial, the jury on Wednesday rejected Jane and Allen Bessemer's claim that Novartis failed to furnish Jane Bessemer's doctor with adequate warning about the risk of jaw problems...
