Ex-NY Comptroller Pleads Guilty In Pay-To-Play Case

Law360, New York (October 7, 2010, 11:19 AM EDT) -- Former New York State Comptroller Alan Hevesi pled guilty Thursday morning to a felony charge over his role in the state's pension fund pay-to-play scandal.

Hevesi pled guilty to a charge of receiving reward for official misconduct before Judge Bart Stone in New York State Supreme Court, New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said.

Hevesi admitted to taking more than $1 million in gifts in exchange for approving a $250 million investment in Markstone Capital Partners LP using money controlled by the New York State Common...
