Suit Over Conseco Price Hikes Mostly Survives Ruling

Law360, New York (October 11, 2010, 5:49 PM EDT) -- A judge has largely denied Conseco Life Insurance Co.’s request to throw out a class action lodged in California over allegedly unwarranted price hikes, but agreed to slice out an unfair competition claim for timing reasons.

Judge A. Howard Matz issued his decision on Friday in the U.S. District for the Central District of California, noting his determination in minutes of an in-chambers discussion and stating that a hearing over the matter would not be necessary.
