Judge Orders Permanent Halt To DADT Enforcement

Law360, New York (October 12, 2010, 4:04 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the U.S. Department of Defense to stop enforcing the “don't ask, don't tell” policy prohibiting gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military.

Judge Virginia Phillips of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California handed down the permanent injunction and final judgment in favor of plaintiff the Log Cabin Republicans, following the group's six-year legal battle to end what it claims is a discriminatory policy in violation of the First and Fifth Amendments of the U.S....
