Five Nabbed In Texas Over $10M Medicare Scheme

Law360, New York (November 5, 2010, 6:33 PM EDT) -- Authorities have arrested five of six defendants charged in a 47-count indictment with operating a Medicare and Medicaid fraud scheme in Texas by filing false claims for more than $10 million in orthotic equipment and devices.

The indictment, returned by a grand jury in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas on Oct. 21, was unsealed by the court following Thursday's arrests. It includes charges of conspiracy to commit health care fraud, paying or receiving kickbacks, money laundering and tax evasion.
