Judge Clears Geico Trademark Suit Vs. Google, Overture

Law360, New York (September 3, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In yet another challenge to Google’s controversial advertising model, a federal judge has cleared the way for insurer Geico to sue Google and Overture Services for allegedly selling advertisements linked to its trademarks.

In an Aug. 25 decision, Judge Leonie Brinkema of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia denied Google and Overture's motion to dismiss six charges brought by Geico in a trademark lawsuit.
